Hurdles
I have heard people compare life to running a race. You have a start and a finish and you have to run your race in whatever way you can, but just do your best to get there. As a jogger, I set my course and whether or not I include for hills depends on how I feel that day! Sometimes I just want a nice and easy flat surface with nice views and no set time to get there and back. Life is not like that!
In the race of life there are hills to run up and many hurdles to overcome. We can’t retreat at the first sign of a hurdle. Life can throw things at you that you don’t expect, but problems can be overcome. Just like you jump a hurdle, so too you can get past your bad situation.
I enjoy watching the athletes who run the hurdle races. Have you noticed they get into a rhythm in how they jump each hurdle? It’s when they get out of sync that they stumble and fall, but even if they fall, they get back up and finish the race. When obstacles come your way, it’s not the time to run away, or play dead, it’s a time to stand firm and be determined to move on.
You don’t drown by falling into the river, you drown by staying there!
Maybe you need swimming lessons. Those runners have coaches who teach and train them how to be great runners and hurdlers. You have to consider who is speaking into your life and make sure it is someone who has a good track record.
My husband and I are life coaches for many young men and women and we just love to see them succeed as they apply the principles that we share with them.
You may have stumbled at some of the hurdles in your life, but get back up, get back on track and get to the finish line. The spectators always applaud those who fall and get back up as they come through, just as much as they applaud the winner!
Whether you know it or not, most people are for you and want you to succeed. Those who don’t have their own issues they need to deal with, but you keep your heart right.
Life is so daily, but remember, no matter what life situation you are in, it will change and you can go on to the finishing line, if you won’t give up.
